Popular bus route to extend servicePopular bus route to extend service
9th March 2009

A popular bus route, which was only re-launched last month, is to increase its service due to demand.

The 318 bus, which links Abbots Langley with Watford town centre, has proved such a hit with residents that operating firm Mullany’s Coaches has decided to increase the service.

As of April 18 the red bus will run on Saturdays and on April 20 three new times will be in operation – the 8.25am towards Watford, the 9.05am and the 18.15pm in the direction of Abbots Langley.

Mullany’s Director Kevin Crawford said: “We have had a fantastic response to the service. I said from the beginning that I would listen to the people of Abbots Langley and we are doing just that. “There is a demand for an extended service and we are doing our best to provide just that. We are giving people the extra option to leave Watford town centre later.” Hundreds of residents fought to save the service when Metroline withdrew because of the uncertain economic climate.

Watford MP Claire Ward, who campaigned to save the service, has welcomed the news. Ms Ward said: "The extension of the service demonstrates its popularity. It is essential now to secure the future of the service to ensure that we can keep it running."
